Propane Refill Stations exists because of a simple frustration: the biggest “propane near me” locators belong to exchange and home-delivery companies, so people who want to refill their own tank keep getting sent to exchange cages. This directory lists only places verified to actually refill.
How verification works
For every location, we check the business's own published store information — the chain's official store page — and confirm it states that propane refill service is offered there. Locations whose own information shows only tank exchange, or is ambiguous, are not listed. We record the source and the date of the check on every location page (you'll see “Data verified” with the date and source at the bottom), we re-check listings on a rolling basis, and readers can flag errors through the correction link on each location page.
We also verify the details that matter at a refill station: whether propane is sold by the gallon, the largest tank the station fills, whether RV and motorhome tanks are filled, and — where a chain publishes them — the propane attendant's refill hours.
Honest coverage note
Today the directory lists 3,060 verified locations across 50 states, drawn from the national chains whose refill service can be verified store by store: Tractor Supply (2,146), U-Haul (719), Ferrellgas (110), Suburban Propane (84), Independent (1). That's solid national coverage, but it is not every refill station in America. Thousands of independent propane dealers, hardware stores, and campgrounds also refill tanks; they can't be verified in bulk the same way, so they're being checked and added over time rather than listed on a promise. If a map on this site has a gap in your area, that gap is honest — we'd rather show you fewer stations we're sure about than a longer list we haven't checked.
Why we never list prices
Propane rates change with energy markets, region, and season. Any per-station price we published would quietly go stale and mislead the next reader, so we don't publish prices at all. Each location page gives you the phone number instead — a 30-second call gets you the current rate, today's hours, and confirmation that the attendant is on duty.
